The End Point Assessment involves two methods of assessment. Each method has the same weighting
towards the final mark, which can be: Fail/Pass/Distinction.
If both assessments receive a distinction, then learners achieve a distinction.
Any other result – including resits, resubmissions and retakes – is a pass.
-
Presentation with questions and answers (50%) – 50 minutes
-
It lasts approximately 50 minutes, with 30 minutes for Q&A
-
A presentation title is set by CMI post gateway and is based on the knowledge,
skills and behaviours covered within the apprenticeship
-
Once the title is set, learners have two weeks to prepare and submit a copy
of their presentation
-
CMI will then inform learners of the date for the presentation,
which will occur within four weeks of the presentation title being set
-
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence (50%) – 60 minutes
-
The assessor will have chosen six competency-based questions
around the learner’s portfolio of evidence
-
The portfolio needs to include about 20 pieces of evidence
and is predominantly skills-based
-
Learners are asked to discuss each evidence listed within their portfolio,
as well as possible situations that could be used as examples, focusing on the knowledge,
skills and behaviours within the L3 Team Leader/Supervisor Standard
When does it happen?
The End Point Assessment takes place post-gateway. Learners can go through gateway once:
-
They have been registered for at least 12 months
-
They have ended their learning and completed a portfolio of evidence,
signed off by client and KnowledgeBrief, prepared during the on-programme phase
-
They have provided evidence of Functional Skills in English and Maths
The End Point Assessment involves three methods of assessment,
each with a different weighting towards the final mark:
-
Portfolio of evidence (20%)
-
Skills Coach compiles learner's portfolio mapped against
all knowledge, skills and behaviours in the apprenticeship standard
-
Skills Coach collects only the very best evidence from across the course
-
Portfolio is discussed with learner: Skills Coach might ask learner
to complete final CPD pieces to ensure all standards are covered
-
Learner signs off portfolio
-
Online knowledge test (30%) – 60 minutes
-
Once the portfolio is submitted, Skills Coach gives learners access
to the Skilsure platform to take the Knowledge Test
-
This is a 1 hour online multiple-choice test with 30 questions
-
The questions cover the "knowledge" section of the skills, knowledge and behaviours
of the apprenticeship standard
-
Learner can take 1 mock test
-
Learner can retake the knowledge test twice, if they fail
-
Live assessment interview (50%) – 55-75 minutes
-
The earliest a learner can book a Live Assessment Date is six weeks in advance
-
Learners need to select a date and time (AM slot, 9:00AM, or PM slot, 1:00PM)
-
Learner will receive a calendar invite from CMI
-
Competency-based interview (30%)
-
Lasts 45-60 mins
-
The assessor “will take care to provide a supportive, professional experience
that allows them to showcase their knowledge, skills and behaviours"
-
The assessor will have already marked learner's portfolio of evidence
and will have chosen 12 questions for the interview based on their findings
-
Professional discussion (20%)
-
Lasts 10-15 mins
-
The assessor will have chosen 2-3 activities from learner's CPD log
to explore further as part of the professional discussion
-
Brief notes (such as a summary of the portfolio and/or the CPD Log)
are allowed to be used as part of the live assessment,
but these should be only referred to and used as prompts

Project proposal, presentation and questioning (50%) – 60 minutes
This assessment method will take around 60 minutes and includes two components:
-
Project proposal, based on post-gateway work,
designed to demonstrate the application of knowledge, skills and behaviours
-
Presentation with questioning.
The presentation will focus on the project proposal,
and the assessor will ask a minimum of eight questions at the end
The presentation must be submitted with the project proposal 12 weeks after the gateway.
The employer must ensure it has a real business application and CMI must ensure
it meets the requirements of the EPA.
Once the proposal’s title and scope have been signed off,
leaners must sit their Live Assessment within two weeks
of the project proposal being submitted.
-
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence (50%) – 60 minutes
-
The professional discussion is structured as a two-way conversation
between the learner and assessor;
however, learners are expected to speak for 80% of the time

Once you, your employer and KnowledgeBrief agree that you have completed all the required work
to move on to the End-point Assessment,
you will go through the ‘gateway’ into this phase by completing all relevant documentation
and finalising your portfolio of evidence.
The End-point Assessment for your programme is split into 2 parts:
-
A strategic business proposal
The strategic business proposal’s subject, title and scope will be agreed
between the employer and the EPA Organisation at the gateway stage.
You will then submit this within 12 weeks of gateway.
The EPA Organisation will assess this and during your final live assessment day
you will supply a presentation about this proposal and answer questions around this
over the duration of around 60 minutes.
-
A professional discussion underpinned by your portfolio of evidence
You will have worked with your Skills Coach to put together a portfolio
using 18-20 of your best pieces of work from the programme.
This is passed to the EPA Organisation at Gateway and they analyse this.
Then during your final live assessment day, you will be asked a minimum
of 8 competency-based questions around your portfolio specifically
and then some broader questions around your learning on the programme.
This section lasts around 60 minutes.
You are supplied a grade for each of these elements of fail, pass or distinction.
These are then combined to create your final grade.
The End Point Assessment involves two methods of assessment.
Each method has the same weighting towards the final mark, which can be: Fail/Pass/Distinction.
If both assessments receive a distinction, then learners achieve a distinction.
Any other result – including resits, resubmissions and retakes – is a pass.
-
Knowledge Test
-
The knowledge test will be based on all subjects delivered during the course and
will take the form of a multiple choice test to be completed under invigilation to ensure compliance.
-
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence (50%)
-
The professional discussion is structured as a two-way conversation between the learner and assessor.
-
Learners will be asked a series of competency based questions designed to determine their level of understanding of the syllabus.
-
Learners are asked to discuss each evidence listed within their portfolio, as well as possible situations that could be used as examples,
focusing on knowledge, skills and behaviours within the L5 Coaching Professional standard.

As well as ensuring your personal and professional growth on the programme, we also must ensure you are
prepared for the End-point Assessment, or EPA. For your programme, the End Point Assessment involves
two methods of assessment. Each method has the same weighting towards the final mark, which can be:
Fail/Pass/Distinction. If both assessments receive a distinction, then learners achieve a distinction.
Any other result – including resits, resubmissions and retakes – is a pass.
-
Written project report with presentation and questioning (50%) - 60 minutes
-
The topic is agreed between the learner, their company and the EPA
organisation and a project proposal created and signed off.
-
The project is undertaken over a maximum 12-week period and a
report is written.
-
A presentation about the project is created and delivered to the
assessor, followed by a session of questioning.
-
Professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence (50%) - 60 minutes
-
In the professional discussion, an independent assessor and
apprentice have a formal two-way conversation. It gives the
apprentice the opportunity to demonstrate the KSBs mapped to this
assessment method.
-
The apprentice can refer to and illustrate their answers with
evidence from their portfolio of evidence.
You will create your portfolio from the work you complete on your programme,
and we will support you with this.
It is important to understand that the work-based project on this Level 4
programme requires a real-life project to be undertaken after the on-programme
learning. This becomes part of your assessment, so although we will prepare
you for achieving this, undertaking the project itself and writing the report
is part of your assessment, as such we are not allowed to help you at this
point. It is discussed and decided with the Assessment organisation.
Therefore, you must have an appropriate project ready to be undertaken at work
when you reach the end of your programme.
